What to expect from a developer internship at Creed
A developer’s first job is usually the hardest to land. Internships give junior developer’s experience which gives them a leg up in landing that first position. Our goal at Creed is to help not only give junior developer’s that initial experience, but to help them understand what career path they are truly interested in pursuing, as well as what they want from their career.
About Creed
Creed is a people-first, digital agency that goes All In to drive our client’s business forward. Even more simply: Creed is digital. Ignited by uncommon dedication. Our fundamental values include ingenuity, dedication and mutual respect. We pride ourselves on our culture, our collaboration, and on being people first.
We are experts in digital design, technology development, and consultative digital strategy.
The logistics of the program:
The program is approximately 14 weeks long (through the summer). The interns will work 29.5 hrs per week in a fun Agile environment with like minded people. They will attend daily stand up meetings and be assigned weekly tasks where they will be held accountable for working with others in order to hit deadlines. We have amazing mentors who will help them learn the ins and outs of working in a digital agency environment.
The first half of the program will be spent working with our ‘Open Source’ Team. Here they will learn about WordPress and other CMS platforms.
The second half of the program will be spent with one of our ‘Custom Development’ teams where they will focus on technologies such as Angular, Node, React and others.
What is expected of the intern:
Collaboration. One of the hardest things for junior developers to learn is how to collaborate and use their associates as resources. Asking for advice is not a weakness, but a strength. We hope to show them that one of the best ways to fill in gaps of knowledge is by working with others.
Learn and have fun doing so. If they don’t already enjoy programming, this probably isn’t the right program for them.
Interns will operate as part of a working team and in many cases they will be asked to perform actual tasks–for both our internal initiatives and client projects. They will be tasked with actively participating in the meetings, presenting ideas, and demonstrating soft skills in addition to technical skills.
Attend regular workshops where they will learn about:
- How our Design Team operates
- The Discovery process
- Systems Architecture
- Team leadership skills
- Our Quality Assurance program
What technologies we will emphasize:
- HTML5
- CSS
- Bem
- Sass
- JavaScript/TypeScript
- WordPress
- Angular
- React
- Docker
- Node (NestJS)
- And more!
The most important piece of the internship program is the intern. The more they put into the experience, the more they will get out of it. Our goal is to help magnify their effort and work with them to achieve their goals.
